Interculturality and business: a key challenge in a globalized world
In a world where companies are evolving in ever more international contexts, mastering interculturality has become a major asset. With this in mind, our CEO, Khelil Kchouk, recently shared his experience during a presentation at INSA Lyon, in front of the 4th year Electrical Engineering students.
Recognized intercultural expertise
An active member of the Conseillers du Commerce Extérieur de la France (CCE), Khelil Kchouk has had the opportunity to work in over 10 countries, developing an in-depth understanding of different professional and national cultures. His experience includes:
- Field expertise in Tunisia, Germany, Libya, Gabon, Italy, Sudan, Algeria, Egypt, Austria, Spain, Malaysia, France, Scotland, China and Angola.
- Fluency in 5 languages, facilitating interaction with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
- A pragmatic approach to the challenges of intercultural communication in a business context.
The keys to effective intercultural communication
During this presentation, our CEO highlighted several key points for successfully operating in a multicultural environment:
1. Understanding cultural dimensions
Cultural differences are not limited to language. They also encompass :
- Country-specific values and beliefs.
- Management and decision-making styles.
- Communication methods (direct vs. indirect).
2. Adopting best practices in an international context
Knowing how to adapt is essential to success in a global context. Here are a few best practices discussed during the exchange:
- Observe and understand before acting.
- Demonstrate agility and flexibility in the face of cultural differences.
- Develop relational intelligence to establish a climate of trust.
3. Adapting to diverse environments
The internationalization of companies requires the ability to navigate between different value systems and ways of working. This requires :
- A thorough understanding of local expectations.
- Effective management of multicultural teams.
- Mastery of professional codes specific to each region.
An enriching exchange with INSA Lyon students
Khelil Kchouk's talk was marked by dynamic and interactive exchanges. The students were able to ask concrete questions about the challenges and opportunities of working in an international environment. This shared experience provided them with essential keys for preparing their professional future.
